With the 2012/13 season fast approaching, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes in the VS class.
The AGM has come and gone and the new committee for the coming season has been elected. The "lucky" office bearers are:

President – Steve Sims
Vice President – Brian Gleeson
Secretary  – Adam Kelly
Treasurer – Mark Nugent
Registrar –Mark Nugent
Race Secretary – John Hodda
Measurer – Lindsay Auston
Assistant  Measurers –Jason Fokes, Tim Dodds, Brian Gleeson
Promotions  – Colin Gillespie
Public Officer – David Mulvaney
With a competent team like this, the VS associations is in good hands!!!!

From the minutes of the AGM, VS sailors should note the changes to the Sprint Series associated with the upcoming 2012/13 National Titles at Sunshine - Lake Macquarie NSW. 
The format has been change from the traditional "knockout" style event, back to a "one race" invitation race event with a "handicap" start. This should make a great race format for the back markers.

Another point to note, is that, for the States and Travellers series "Boats can change skippers a maximum of 3 of the 8 only, with a legitimate reason and must be pre approved by the committee."
 
One of the biggest challengers for the VS fleet this coming season will be finding crew. With many sailors opting to stroll the corridors of shopping centres with their girlfriends and sipping coffee on a weekend or sitting in front of the box with surround sound watching a rerun video instead of hitting the water, the race to find crews will be hard. May I suggest not to leave this to the last minute. !!!
